Schools ICT Technician

Soltech IT are seeking a Schools ICT Technician who will be delivering support to designated primary schools in Bristol and surrounding areas. The role demands a dynamic, customer focussed individual who is capable of liaising with teachers, and offering a first class ICT support service.

The role will entail the day-to-day support, diagnosis and resolution of issues affecting school ICT hardware and peripherals, operating systems and software, hardwired and wireless networks and providing technical assistance to teachers within the classroom. The successful candidate will be required to install and configure Active Directory services, Microsoft operating systems, Apple Mac OS X and iOS, Android and provide technical support on all school servers. Also to ensure that all incident management processes are adhered to and to ensure the Service Level Agreements with the schools are maintained.

The candidate will also be required to provide technical assistance to teachers within the classroom to facilitate their use of technology. Knowledge of using technologies such as iPads and interactive displays is very advantageous to this role. Also advantageous is knowledge of programming, specifically related to the new school curriculum. Candidates will also be required to conduct informal training with individuals and small groups of teachers on the use of hardware and software used within a classroom environment.

Travel between schools will be required and so candidates will require their own car. Travelling expenses will be reimbursed.

A Full Enhanced DBS check will also be required for the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems especially Windows 7 and Server 2008/12. Knowledge of Apple Mac OS X including server components such as Open Directory is highly beneficial in this role. Also required is a good working knowledge of Apple iOS and Android systems and Mobile Device Management solutions.

An in depth knowledge of PC hardware, peripherals and a good understanding of device connectivity to network systems is required. Ideally the candidate will have experience of working in an education environment and must be flexible to support the needs of the school-based staff that can be quite demanding and reactive.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills and be approachable and patient when working alongside school based staff and pupils.

Experience in providing classroom technical support to teaching staff and pupil’s is very desirable
