Important: Scam Emails Affecting Local Schools
Scam Email Notification

We have been made aware that a number of schools across Bristol and South Gloucestershire have recently been targeted by fraudulent email activity. This may have originated from a compromised third-party organisation, which has led to malicious emails being circulated among local schools.
We strongly encourage all staff to remain vigilant when handling emails, particularly those that are unexpected or request sensitive information.
Please pay particular attention to email signatures that are circulation with the phone number of St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School.
How to identify suspicious emails:
- Check the sender’s email address carefully for inconsistencies or unusual domains
- Be cautious of urgent or unexpected requests, especially those asking for personal or financial information
- Look for spelling or grammatical errors, which can be a sign of phishing attempts
- Avoid clicking on links or opening attachments from unknown or unverified sources
- Check for brand logos, these can be out of date or missing
How to stay safe:
- Verify any unusual requests directly with the sender using a known, trusted contact method
- Hover over links to check their destination before clicking
- Report suspicious emails to your IT team immediately
- Delete any emails you believe to be fraudulent
If you are unsure about an email, do not interact with it until it has been checked and please contact our helpdesk immediately.
Thank you for your continued vigilance and support in keeping our systems secure.
