2025 will see Soltech IT continue to donate IT equipment to school's throughout the Southwest as part of our 'Giving Back To Schools' donation campaign.
We were delighted to be able to donate more than £15,000 of 65" and 75" Promethean ActivPanel Touchscreens to six local schools and MAT's.
Gareth Jones, commented "As a business it's great to be able to give something back to schools, be they a customer or not. Our most recent donations have helped transform the learning environments of pupils which is something we are very proud of."
These most recent donations have not only included a 65" or 75" Promethean ActivPanel Touchscreen, the schools have also received WiFi module upgrades, Android functionality, wall mounting brackets and relevant cables, plus delivery, removal / WEEE disposal of old equipment, installation and training, all as part of Soltech IT's donation.
That's around a £3,000 donation at each school or MAT.
From a fresh perspective on hackers to what happens when you reply to a spam email.
We recently put together a list of our favourite education in technology
TED Talks. From virtual reality science labs and a 12 year old app developer, to a lovely way to teach children about computers and the future of teaching children how to code. We've now put together some of our favourite tech based talks, including the a fresh way to look at hackers and new shape shifting technology which could change the way we work and communicate.
1. Keren Elazari: Hackers: the Internet's immune system
In this talk, Keren Elazari, showcases a new perspective on hackers. She sees hackers as the immune system for internet age, "Sometimes they make us sick, but they also find those hidden threats in our world, and they make us fix it."

2. Shape-Shifting tech will change work as we know it.
Sean Follmer examines what the world might look like if we moved on from just using a keyboard and mouse.
He features a 3D shape-shifting table which transfers the screen to something you can physically touch and manipulate, potentially changing the way certain industries work or the way we communicate via the internet, allowing you to pick up objects, remotely, using pins which rise out of the surface and change on demand. Further featured technologies include a phone which turns into a wristband and large scale versions of the 3D shape shifting table which can move objects around, bringing them to you or reminding you to pick something up on your way out of the day.
The results are fascinating and as Sean states, "the computer has fundamentally changed the way we think about tools because computation is dynamic".
