2025 will see Soltech IT continue to donate IT equipment to school's throughout the Southwest as part of our 'Giving Back To Schools' donation campaign.

We were delighted to be able to donate more than £15,000 of 65" and 75" Promethean ActivPanel Touchscreens to six local schools and MAT's.

Gareth Jones, commented "As a business it's great to be able to give something back to schools, be they a customer or not. Our most recent donations have helped transform the learning environments of pupils which is something we are very proud of."

These most recent donations have not only included a 65" or 75" Promethean ActivPanel Touchscreen, the schools have also received WiFi module upgrades, Android functionality, wall mounting brackets and relevant cables, plus delivery, removal / WEEE disposal of old equipment, installation and training, all as part of Soltech IT's donation.

That's around a £3,000 donation at each school or MAT.

From favourite pieces of tech to the best part of their job, as part of our our latest blog series, get to know our Soltech IT team a little better.

Matthew Butler is an IT Technician at Soltech IT. Below is a little bit more about him!

Describe your role at Soltech IT.

I provide on-site and remote support to schools and businesses as well as answer the phones in the Office and manage the help desk.

What skills do you think you bring to your role?

At College I gained CISCO CCNA, CISCO IT Essentials 1&2 certifications and taught myself how to setup and configure Server 2003 through to Server 2016. These skills will enable me to diagnose and fix issues a wide range of issues for any Businesses or Schools that we support.

What is your favourite piece of tech or gadget?

My tablet as I can use applications, watch TV shows or browse the web anywhere I want.

Outside of work what is your favourite thing to do in your spare time?

I love my rugby so watching it on TV with friends at the weekend is something I always look forward to. I support Northampton Saints and am always eager to watch England or the Lions.

What are you listening to/ reading/ watching at the moment?

I am watching The Americans, a drama/crime TV show that shows the life of Russian spies living and operating in America. It’s not typically something I’d watch, but thought it would be interesting to watch especially considering what is going on in the world with Russia at the moment.

Who would you invite (real, fictional, dead or alive) to your dream dinner party?

Doug Stanhope (comedian) as he has so many weird but hilarious stories.
